Stone Restoration Project:  Please help us save history!
Headstones, monuments and grave markers dating as far back as the early 1700s are in need of repair in the 3 cemeteries in Woodbury, due to erosion, wear and tear, and sadly, vandalism. The Woodbury Cemetery Association is responsible for all 3 cemeteries and the cost of headstone repair and restoration is not a budgeted item, due to the annual expense of maintaining the cemeteries' grounds.
Through donations, the WCA has acquired headstone repair training (it's quite an art) and again, through donations, many headstones and monuments have been retrieved from underground, pieced back together, cleaned, etc. thus salvaging a piece of Woodbury history with each repair. There are many stones still in need of repair.
Donations will aid in the WCA's ability to continue with this very important project. WCA is receiving donations through Zelle, 'Woodbury Cemetery Association', or by mailing a check written to Woodbury Cemetery Association and mailed to PO Box 45, Woodbury, CT 06798.
All donations are tax deductible as the WCA is a non-profit organization.
